PRODUCTION:
The grapes were harvested, had their stalks removed and were placed in the vat on 11 September 2008. Over the following days, fermentation began at 24ºC using indigenous yeasts and maceration took place for 30 days. Finally, the paste was pressed to extract 50% to 60% of the wine, which was then poured into the French oak barrels to undertake a second malolactic fermentation. The wine was then aged in the barrels for 10 months.

VARIETY:
This wine is a coupage of the following grape varieties: 50% Ull de Llebre (Tempranillo), 25% Sumoy (a native variety of the Penedès region) and 25% Samsó (Cariñena).

TASTING NOTE
This wine is notable for its intense violet colour, reminiscent of the last rays of the sun during a spring sunset. Its body is smooth with a great complexity that transports us to the most sublime places in the celestial kingdom and blesses the spirit with an inner peace.
In the mouth, this wine has balsamic and mineral hints and a pronounced aroma of fruits of the forest such as raspberries and blackberries, in addition to traces of liquorice, vanilla and partridge. It has a subtle expressiveness that fills the mouth, with a lingering finish of vigorous tannins.
In this red wine we can observe the ancestry of the entire viticultural tradition of the Baix Penedès region.

DATA FROM THE FARM
The area from which the grapes for this exceptional red wine were harvested is called Cal Maginet. It is near to the district of Les Peces in the interior of the county of Baix Penedès. The most remarkable geographical characteristic of this area, and one that is not found anywhere else in the Penedès region, is that it is situated between the sea, the coastal hills and higher ground further inland. It is an incomparably beautiful landscape and one in which in the presence of the sea reaches inland and is felt in the vine stock. The vineyards are approximately 18 years old and are pruned to the traditional ‘cup’ shape. The estate sits on a soil high in clay content, with a 10% slope and is 150 m above sea level. Average rainfall is 325 l/m2.

This area is cultivated in accordance with viticultural parameters that combine traditional techniques with biointegrated viticultural techniques, such as following the lunar cycle and the movement of the constellations.
