was created in 2005, when Oscar Canals Serramià and oenologist Rafael Bordalás decided to revive traditional viticulture in order to make wines of exceptional character and quality, the way their ancestors had done since the beginning of the 17th century.
The heritage of the Sanctó name goes all the way back to Cal Sanctó, the home of one of Catalonia’s oldest viticultural families. The winemaking tradition of the Penedés region stems from when every family made its own high-quality wine on its own land, and the Sanctó family has documents dated as far back as 1616 attesting to this fact.
A dream has become reality; a dream based on respecting the environment, living in harmony with one’s surroundings, and paying special attention to vineyards, the countryside and traditional winemaking methods. A dream of going back to making wines in a natural way, wines with their own character, wines far removed from industrial and chemical production systems. A dream that has become reality with the youthfulness, enthusiasm and knowledge of Oscar Canals, along with the magical combination of wise advice from his father and grandfather.
